The NHL All Star ballots have just been announced this past week and surprisingly, one big name right now in Boston was left off.
The Bruins had some issues with starting goaltender, Tuukka Rask, earlier in the season that forced them to use the services of Jaroslav Halak quite frequently. So far this season, the back up goalie has played in 16 games – 15 of which he started. He has recorded 8 wins, 4 losses, 2 overtime losses, and 2 shutouts.
His efforts this season have been surprising and remarkable. Halak has had to come up big quite a few times so far and has for sure kept the Bruins in a few games. To not see him in the conversation for making the All Star team is honestly ridiculous. The fact that Tuukaa is in the conversation after having many terrible efforts and even taking a leave of absence is shocking. In no way am I trying to offend the 31-year-old goaltender, as I am a fan, but he definitely should not be on the ballot for this years All Star team.
It is truly upsetting that the NHL picks who they want to play in the All Star games before the season kicks off. What we have seen on the ice in previous seasons does not completely reflect what we will see in seasons to come. The NHL should really be making these decisions towards the end of November – early December.
But regardless, I am excited to see who will be representing our boys and the organization in San Jose this year. And a big congratulations to every one who’s names made the ballot.
