Debrusk out with Concussion; Gemel Smith to Make His Bruins Debut

Bruins winger Jake Debrusk has been dealing with some post-hit trauma the last few games after being hit in the head with a puck on Nov. 26.

It has been somewhat obvious that Debrusk had been playing injured after Danton Heinen took a shot that he hadn’t planned for. With so many guys already out with injuries, we need as many of the boys healthy as possible. “Not feeling well during the Tampa game,” says head coach Bruce Cassidy. “Right now we are waiting for him to come in and let us know where he’s at,” Cassidy also says.

Hopefully, Jake will start to feel better soon so he can continue to play great hockey.

In other news, Gemel Smith will be in the lineup tonight against Toronto. Smith was drafted in the fourth round in 2012 by Dallas. The 24 year old Ontario native has played in 14 games so far this season and has recorded 3 points. He is a -1 in +/- and averages 11 shots a game. He will be placed on the fourth line taking the place of Noel Acciari. “He’s fast. Should be effective on the fore check and penalty kill.”

In goal tonight, we will have Jaroslav Halak. Also, Charlie McAvoy will be making his return! The B’s, despite many injuries, need to find a way to win tonight. I am excited to see what Smith will be able to contribute to this team on and off the ice.
