During November 14th’s showdown against the Colorado Avalanche, Zdeno Chara had a little accident as he made a clean hit on Av’s centerman Carl Soderberg.
As Big Zee was making the play, his left knee awkwardly caved in toward his right knee. He limped off the ice in what looked like a bit of discomfort. “He’s out for the rest of the night,” was the only thing Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy knew for sure following Wednesday nights match up.
The forty-one year old had been playing in the NHL since 1994. He has been with the Bruins since 2006 and was immediately named the team’s captain. Though Chara had suffered a few injuries before, this one might end his career seeing as he is on the tail end of it.
Last year, Zee signed a one-year contract extension with less pay and was planning to do the same at the end of this year if healthy.
Currently, the big man is back in Boston being reevaluated by team doctors. Hopefully, he will be able to make a full recovery and be back playing before we know it.
