Charlie McAvoy Placed on Injured Reserve

Deja vu?

Bruins young stud defenseman, Charlie McAvoy, has been placed on the injured reserve list for a second time this season.

McAvoy, who turned 21 this month, has struggled keeping healthy throughout this season – however that has been the trend with this Bruins squad since September. Nevertheless, it’s extremely frustrating to see another Bruin go down after a few games of a relatively healthy lineup – especially McAvoy, who was beginning to gain back his confidence.

I know it seems unjust to suggest that there is good news, but with captain Zdeno Chara and Kevan Miller returning to the lineup, it’s, at least, relatively good timing for yet another defenseman to sit-out due to injury.

It’s unknown as to how severe McAvoy’s injury is, as being placed on injured reserve could mean a multitude of things. But by placing McAvoy on IR, it allows the Bruins to avoid sending somebody down. Therefore, this could be a minor injury, and Sweeney is just taking advantage of his options. Fingers crossed!

Considering this, I’m not willing to freak out just yet. But with the way things have been going recently, I’m getting pretty damn near close…
