Selander Returns for Year 2
The Boston Pride have ensured the return of another key piece of their record breaking 2019-20 team, announcing Wednesday that they had re-signed goaltender Lovisa Selander for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
The 24-year-old native of Sollentuna, Sweden is the reigning NWHL Goaltender of the Year after leading the league in wins (17), goals against average (1.71), and save percentage (.941) in 18 starts. That save percentage set a league record for goaltenders with at least 6 starts under their belt. She had the longest shutout streak of the season, a stretch of 130:20, and was named MVP of the All-Star Game. She was selected for Team Sweden's roster for the 4 Nations Tournament that was meant to be held in December, 2019, until it was cancelled after the Swedish program announced a boycott similar to the one held by the US National program three years ago. She also suited up for her country in the 2018 4 Nations Tournament.

Selander was originally selected by the Pride with their 4th Round selection in the 2018 NWHL draft (20th Overall) out of RPI. She is the NCAA all-time saves leader, and was a Top 10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award in her senior season. She was RPI's MVP, ECAC Goaltender of the Year, ECAC All-Academic, and the first ever CCM/AHCA National All-American First Team selection in program history that season.
Prior to enrolling at RPI, she played for SDE HF in her native Sweden. She also made 13 starts for Ormsta HC of the SDHL at the age of 15. She is a Process Development Engineer for Neurotech Pharmaceuticals Inc. in addition to her career in professional hockey.
