Pride Add Finishing Touches, Re-sign Mastel
The Pride have added another defender to their murderers row on the blue line, re-upping defender Briana Mastel for the 2020-21 season. Mastel, 25, appeared in all 24 games for the Pride in her rookie campaign, adding a goal and 6 assists in that time frame. The former Harvard Crimson captain is another excellent, mobile rearguard on a team that doesn't lack for puck moving ability, providing the team with tremendous depth. She is has also been an active member of the community since joining the Pride, regularly contributing to their community outreach and youth hockey initiatives, and most recently being featured in the NWHL's "NWHL Votes" campaign.
She's an important voice in the locker room, and Team President Hayley Moore indicated that Mastel was the ideal piece to round out their roster. “Briana is the perfect final piece to our puzzle,” said Moore. “Her high hockey IQ and skill are equally matched by her work ethic and locker room presence, and that’s exactly what our team needs to bring home the ultimate prize. We couldn’t be happier to welcome Bri back on the ice with the Pride this season and continue our quest for the Isobel Cup.”
The Pride are currently practicing with optional on-ice skills sessions in small groups as they work back towards the preseason. Stay tuned for news, notes, analysis, and fun announcements to come!
