Boston Bruins and Pride Jerseys to Target for Christmas
‘Tis the season of giving, and what better way to do so than to give a loved one a Boston Bruins jersey! Let’s look at some of the jerseys that you, a family member, or a friend would be grateful for.
Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand are two of the most popular players on the team, so it makes sense to buy one of their jerseys, especially if the person you are buying a jersey for doesn’t own one yet.
Bergeron is on the back end of his career, so I’d snag one of his jerseys while he’s still playing; maybe even grab a reverse retro Bergeron jersey since he’s one of the few options for the reverse retro jersey. You may want to hold off on a Bergeron jersey until he is named captain of the team, assuming Zdeno Chara isn't re-signed. Marchand has a reasonable amount of time left in his career and he’s a perennial 25-plus goal scorer; a Marchand jersey is a great gift.
If you’re a diehard fan you might already have a Bergeron jersey and maybe even a Marchand jersey. The most exciting jerseys to buy, keeping talent - projected team roles in mind, are listed below. A list of Boston Pride jerseys follows the list of Bruins jerseys.
Bruins Jerseys to Consider Buying
David Pastrnak
Pastrnak is the most gifted goal scorer on the Bruins, and he’s locked up for three more seasons. I don’t see the Bruins letting him hit the open market, let alone sing with another team. Pasta is here to stay, and he’ll continue to light the lamp with the best of them. Pastrnak’s jersey is available in the reverse retro edition.
Charlie Coyle
Coyle has six years left on his deal and will likely replace Bergeron once he retires. Much like David Krejci, Coyle hasn’t had the help he needs on the wing to put up gaudy numbers. Nevertheless, Coyle’s production has been good, and he’s been at his best in the playoffs. He’s also in his prime at 28 years old. Oh, and he’s from Weymouth too in case you hadn’t heard yet.
Charlie McAvoy
McAvoy signed a three-year bridge deal with the team in 2019. It’s hard to imagine the team ever letting him leave. Don Sweeny and Cam Neely will be willing to give McAvoy the deal that Torrey Krug was looking for and much more given his ability to play defense at a higher level than Krug. McAvoy is the Bruins' new Chara moving forward.
Jack Studnicka
This one is undoubtedly a projection. Buying a Studnicka jersey is akin to buying a stock whose value you project to skyrocket in the future. If you’re a true diehard, I’d grab a Studnicka jersey before he develops into the second line winger the Bruins are hoping for, and you’ll have bragging rights over your friends for already having his jersey when he becomes one of the Bruins’ best scorers. He probably has the second coolest name behind Pastrnak too.
Tip: On the Bruins Pro Shop, you’ll have to go to “Boston Bruins Fanatics Branded Black Home Breakaway Custom Jersey,” and there is a drop-down menu with a complete list of players. A Studnicka jersey won’t be an option if you use the “top sellers” search option.
Brandon Carlo
Okay, I’m not expecting most people to jump at the idea of buying a Carlo jersey. Last year my parents asked me what player I wanted a jersey of and I said Carlo, why? Call me crazy, but I wanted a jersey that not many people had and a player that is underappreciated. Carlo has zero offensive game, but he’s incredibly steady as a defender. If you want to be different, go with a Carlo jersey.
Pride Jerseys to Consider Buying
Jillian Dempsey
A Dempsey Boston Pride jersey would be a tremendous get. I'm thinking of buying one for myself. Dempsey led the NWHL last season in points (40). Dempsey, the Captain of the Pride, scored 17 goals and tallied 23 assists last season. A link to her jersey can be found here. Personally, I like the home gold Pride jerseys better.
McKenna Brand
Brand led the NWHL in game-winning goals with six last season. Brand logged 19 goals and 17 assists last season. Brand wears number 17 which is a great number.
Lovisa Selander
Selander was by far the best goalie in the league last season. She led the league in wins (17), save percentage (.941), and goals-against average (1.71).
Bonus Picks
Bonus Pick: If you're’ a hockey nut and are willing to spend money on jerseys for teams that you don’t root for, look at the Florida Panthers reverse retro jersey they’re fantastic. Aleksander Barkov is Florida’s best player, so he’s my bonus pick.
Bonus Pick: A Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin jersey is a sweet gift. The old school logo is amazing and Ovi is a sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Famer.
Bonus Pick: Allie Thunstrom of the Minnesota Whitecaps led the NWHL in goals last season (24). A link to Thunstrom's jersey can be found here.
