The Bruins Moms are 2-0

On January 9, 2020, the Boston Bruins took on the Winnipeg Jets after a successful win against the Nashville Predators.

Winnipeg proved to not be such an easy task as the Bruins were absent captain, Zdeno Chara whom had been injured in the game prior. Brett Ritchie was a healthy scratch for David Backes as Bruce Cassidy wanted all of the guys to play in front of their moms. Not to mention, Torey Krug played through being sick.

The first 8 minutes of the game gave for some very back and forth plays. Each team was able to earn chances but it wasn't until 7 and a half minutes into the first that the first goal was scored. Kyle Connor scored to put the Jets up early. After the goal, the Bruins shifted the ice. David Pastrnak tied things up 10 minutes later with the assists going to Sean Kuraly and Joakim Nordstrom.

The Bruins were awarded a power play less than a minute into the second. Brad Marchand drew a hooking penalty. The B's had difficulty setting things up and spent the first minute and a half of the man advantage retrieving cleared pucks. Unfortunately, the power play expired without a score board increase from the home team. With a little more than 5 minutes gone in the second, the Bruins earned themselves a bench minor for too many men. The Jets tallied a few terrific chances. Jaro Halak made some great saves, though Winnipeg was able to capitalize and go up 2-1.

Immediately after the goal against, the B's got back to work and turned up the heat on the Jets. Brad Marchand and Chris Wagner posted some really good chances and the defense made smart decisions in their end. With less than 11 minutes left in the second, former Bruins, Blake Wheeler was whistled for tripping David Krejci. Patrice Bergeron won the first face off and Pastrnak struck again to tie the game!

Top shelf. Over the glove. 3-1! Jake Debrusk put the Bruins ahead for the first time tonight with a breakaway effort. Right after gaining the lead, Matt Grzelyck was called for a trip. Neal Pionk scored with 7 seconds left in the second to tie the game up, once again.

The first minute of the third was predominately dominated by Winnipeg. With less than two minutes expired in the final period, Joshua Morrissey tripped Charlie Coyle. The Bruins had a hard time setting up until a minute had already gone by. Bergeron had a great shot on Laurent Brossoit, but the Jets' net-minder came up strong. Less than seven minutes later, Mark Scheifele scored to beak the tie again.

Just four minutes later, David Pastrnak scored his third goal of the evening to retie the game! David Krejci and Jake Debrusk were awarded the assists. "I'm just focusing and playing my game," Pastrnak said after the game. Not even a minute later, Debrusk earned his second of the night. Grzelyck and Charlie McAvoy got the assist. To put even more pressure on the Jets, Nikolaj Ehlers hooked Torey Krug. The Bruins did a much better job creating plays and establishing zone time this time around.

The Bruins posted an outstanding effort these past few games. I can only hope that this hot streak will continue.
