Goodbye, Colby

It certainly has been a rough couple of weeks for everyone in the world. But this past week, things have been incredibly upsetting for the world of hockey. On Tuesday, former Bruin Colby Cave was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Canada after his brain began to bleed. Doctors concurred that he had a cyst that was putting pressure on his brain. The doctors operated immediately before putting him in a medically induced coma. Cave's wife, Emily, has been looking to her faith in God to get her through this heart-wrenching time. On her Instagram she wrote, "Way maker, MIRACLE WORKER, Promise keeper, light in the darkness. My God, that is who you are." Unfortunately, faith could not pull him through and on Saturday, April 11, 2020 we lost him.

The Oiler was only 25 at the time of his death. He had a way of making everyone happy and comfortable. Jack Michaels, Edmonton's play-by-play guy said about the youngster, "Colby Cave struck me above all else as kind, in addition to being thoughtful and articulate." Cave is certainly going to be missed. The hockey world will not be the same without him.
