Bruins, Bjork agree to Contract Extension
The Boston Bruins announced on Wednesday afternoon that the club has signed forward Anders Bjork to a three-year extension worth an average annual value of $1.6 million.
Bjork, who turns 24 next week, played in 58 games for the Bruins during the regular season amassing nine goals and 19 points. In his career with the black and gold, he's tallied 14 goals and 34 points in 108 games.
A Wisconsin native, Bjork has been practicing on the third line for the Bruins ahead of the NHL's restart. He's found himself on the right wing alongside Charlie Coyle and Sean Kuraly
Unfortunately for Bjork and the Bruins, Bjork does have an injury history. He sustained a shoulder injury in Feb. of 2018 which required surgery and kept him out for the rest of the season. History repeated itself the following year when Bjork once again went under the knife to repair a shoulder injury.
That being said, the Bruins are hoping that a healthy Bjork can provide some scoring depth behind the first line of Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak. He certainly has the talent:
