Bruins Sign Jake DeBrusk to 2 Year Contract
The Boston Bruins signed forward Jake DeBrusk to a two-year contract with an AAV of $3.675 million the club announced Monday evening.
In three seasons with the Bruins, the Edmonton native has tallied 62 goals and 58 assists in 203 regular-season games to go along with 14 goals and nine assists in 49 playoff games.
The 24-year-old DeBrusk is coming off a season in which he struggled to find consistency in his game. From Jan. 7 to Feb. 8, DeBrusk recorded 14 points in 13 games before scoring just one point in his final 14 contests preceding the stoppage due to the pandemic.
Number 74 certainly has had a flare for the dramatics as he's come up huge for the black and gold in the playoffs on multiple occasions including a series-winning goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 7 of his rookie year:
The deal is a win for both parties as the Bruins didn’t have to break the bank for a top-six winger and still have just under $3 million remaining in cap space. On the other hand, the two-year deal for the former 14th overall pick gives DeBrusk an opportunity to prove to himself and to the rest of the league that he is, in fact, a top-six winger.
